Honda has long been a trailblazer in hybrid technology, and its extensive expertise is poured unerringly into the 2024 Honda CR-V Hybrid. This stylish compact crossover SUV, available in three hybrid trim levels, offers exceptional fuel efficiency and enjoyable driving. It’s loaded with cutting-edge tech, too. In this article, we highlight some of its innovative features.

5 Innovations in the 2024 Honda CR-V Hybrid

1. Fourth Generation Hybrid Powertrain

Introduced in 2023, Honda’s potent 204 hp hybrid powertrain combines a 2.0 L Atkinson cycle engine with two electric motors and an ECV-T gearbox, the latter contributing to the CR-V’s calm ride. This fourth-generation powertrain boosted torque to 247 lb-ft and enabled a 1,000 lb towing capacity. It also raised the CR-V’s top speed from 86 mph to 115 mph.
Honda’s latest powertrain enhanced the eco-friendliness of the CR-V Hybrid by cutting NOx emissions by 22% and THC emissions by 24%. Fuel efficiency was boosted by 2 mpg during combined city/highway driving versus the previous powertrain. CR-V Hybrid 2WD models achieve excellent 43/36/40 mpg economy figures (city/highway/combined).

2. Honda Sensing Technologies

The Honda CR-V Hybrid is full of Honda Sensing technologies. Designed to help you avoid accidents or reduce their severity, most of these technologies come as standard, like the Collision Mitigation Braking System, Lane Keeping Assist System, and Forward Collision Warning. Some of the more generous, rarer inclusions across all trims are Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Information System, and Traffic Sign Recognition.

3. Body Stabilizing Front Seats

Renowned for its comfort and high-quality upholstery, the CR-V has special “Body Stabilizing” seats at the front. Suspension mats along the seat back firmly support your pelvis and lumbar areas. The anatomical shape of the seat wraps around you and prevents excessive movement, helping you avoid an aching back and fatigue after long drives.

4. Advanced Front Airbag Technology

The latest CR-V has advanced front driver and passenger airbags. These are designed to prevent head rotation, especially during side-on collisions. They cradle the head and mitigate the extra risk of brain injury that comes from rotational forces. There are ten airbags in the CR-V altogether, also including front knee airbags, side curtain airbags, and side impact airbags.

5. One-Touch Power Moonroof

All hybrid CR-Vs come with a one-touch power moonroof, so you can enjoy riding beneath the ever-changing sky. As its name suggests, the easy-to-use moonroof opens or closes with a single touch of the control. To avoid trapped limbs, the roof automatically re-opens if it detects resistance when closing. On days when it is overbearingly bright or hot, you can manually cover the moonroof with the built-in sliding sunshade.
