Improved Drivetrain
With new refinements, Honda has squeezed out more response and power from the Pilot’s 3.5L V6 engine: up to 285 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. That power is delivered to the drive wheels through a new 10-speed automatic transmission that features shift-by-wire technology and a manual shift mode with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters. The powertrain achieves prompt acceleration and a towing capacity of up to 5,000 pounds.
All trims offer the second generation of Honda’s Intelligent Variable Torque Management (i-VTM4) all-wheel drive system. It’s constructed from lightweight, yet durable materials and is comprised of electro-hydraulic clutch packs for each rear drive wheel. These packs independently divert torque, resulting in extremely quick adjustments that help to prevent any slipping.
Off-Road-Focused TrailSport Model
If you regularly venture into rugged environments, you’ll definitely want to consider the Pilot TrailSport. It enhances the Pilot’s already impressive off-roading capability with specially tuned suspension, extra ground clearance at 8.3 inches, and all-terrain tires. Exclusive Trail Torque Logic technology is included with its version of i-VTM4, which detects when a wheel has lifted into the air and responds by sending unused torque to the grounded wheels.
The TrailSport also gains sand and trail drive modes and the TrailWatch camera that helps you navigate through tight spaces with multiple camera views.
Premium Interior
The Pilot can comfortably accommodate up to eight passengers with its three-row seating, made extra inviting thanks to the cabin’s generous use of high-quality materials and a slew of available amenities. These include tri-zone automatic climate control with air filtration, heated seats, power front seats with 2-way power lumbar support for the driver, and perforated leather-trim seats.
Touring and Elite models get a second-row seat that can easily be removed and stowed into the rear cargo compartment. All other rear seats can be folded down to provide over 110 cubic feet of cargo space.
Advanced Infotainment
All Pilot trims are available with a 7- or 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system offering compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, multiple USB ports, and Bluetooth HandsFreeLink and streaming audio. Communication with rear passengers has been made much easier with the help of the CabinTalk in-car PA system, which makes use of the multi-zone audio speakers placed throughout the interior.
